HSBC Global Asset Management hosts a series of events every year to celebrate Chinese New Year with clients. Our colleagues join us from Asia and other parts of the world to share their in-depth investment and macroeconomic insights into global, Asia and Chinese markets.

Dr. Axel Cron

Chief Investment Officer | HSBC Global Asset Management (Deutschland) GmbH

Dr. Alex Cron

Dr Axel Cron has been Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at HSBC Global Asset Management (Deutschland) GmbH since January 2019. In this role, he is responsible for the asset-allocation process and oversees portfolio management and research. He joined the firm in February 2004 as a portfolio manager and was named Head of Portfolio Management Fixed Income in 2012. In addition to managing fixed income portfolios, he focuses on total-return products. Prior to joining HSBC, Dr Cron worked at Meriten Investment Management for five years. His last position there was Head of Quantitative Bond Research. Dr Cron began his career in the Investment Management unit of UBS in Zurich. After graduating from university, Dr Cron was an assistant professor at the University of Bonn. His research specialties included econometrics and macroeconomics.


Bill Maldonado

Global CIO Equities, CIO Asia-Pacific | HSBC Global Asset Management

Bill Maldonado

Bill Maldonado is the HSBC Global Asset Management CIO for Equities globally and the CIO for Asia-Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, Bill oversees the investment strategies in the region and works closely with the local CIOs and investment teams to align our strategies, process and develops best practices and tools for equity portfolio management globally. Bill has worked in the asset management industry since joining HSBC in 1993 as an European derivative-based portfolio manager and later on headed up a number of investment functions, such as non-traditional investments (including passive indexation mandates, fund-of-funds, structured products and hedge funds) and the Alternative Investments team. He became Global CIO, Equities and CIO for the UK in 2010 and relocated to Hong Kong in July 2011 to take up his current position. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Sussex & Uppsala Universities, a D.Phil. in Laser Physics from Oxford University and an MBA from the Cranfield School of Management.

Dong Wang 

Dong Wang is CEO of HSBC Jintrust Fund Management, a position he has held since November 2012. Dong joined the Company during its preparatory stage as one of its key founding members and was Head of International Business between April 2008 and November 2012 and Head of Finance between November 2005 and April 2008.

Dong holds a Master Degree in International Finance (summa cum laude) from the Universiteit van Amsterdam and BEng in International Trade and Computer Science (second major) from the Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is a CFA Charterholder and non-practising member of CICPA.


Geoff Lunt

Senior Product Specialist, Asian Fixed Income | HSBC Global Asset Management

Geoff Lunt

Geoff Lunt is Senior Product Specialist for Asian Fixed Income and has been working in the industry since 1992. Before he took up his current position in July 2011, Geoff managed global bond portfolios in London. Prior to joining HSBC in 2003, Geoff worked as a Fund Manager at Investec Asset Management where he managed bond funds for insurance companies and UK local authorities. Previously, Geoff was a Director of Plough Court Fund Management. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Classics from the University of London.


Joseph Little

Global Co-CIO Multi-Asset; Global Chief Strategist | HSBC Global Asset Management

Joe Little

Joseph Little is Global Co-CIO for Multi Asset and Chief Global Strategist for HSBC Global Asset Management in London. He has been working in the financial industry since 2003. Joseph is primarily responsible for the development of our multi asset investment process. He co-ordinates and leads our global multi asset investment platform, and is also responsible for managing our global team of economists and investment strategists. Joseph was previously a portfolio manager for HSBC's absolute return global macro fund, and has worked in asset allocation research. Prior to joining HSBC in 2007, he worked as a global economist for J.P. Morgan Cazenove. Joseph holds an MSc in Economics from Warwick University, a BSc in Economics from Bristol University, and is a CFA charterholder.


Nick Timberlake

Nick Timberlake

Nick Timberlake is Head of Equities in the UK and has been working in the investment industry since 1991. He joined HSBC in 2005. In addition to the core global emerging market capability, the team also manages emerging market assets across BRIC, Russia, EMEA, and Frontier Market equity strategies. In 2011 Nick's role broadened to take responsibility for the teams managing all active equity capabilities in the UK including Global, European, UK, EAFE and various themed strategies. Prior to HSBC, Nick worked for F&C Asset Management. He holds an MA (Hons) in Geography and Economics from the University of Dundee and is a Member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of the UK.


Stephanie Wu

Senior Portfolio Manager, Asia | HSBC Global Asset Management

Stephanie Wu

Stephanie Wu is a portfolio manager in the Global Emerging Markets Equity team within HSBC Global Asset Management in London and has been working in the financial industry since 1994. Stephanie is responsible for the Asian investments in HSBC Asset Management’s multi regional strategies including GEM and BRIC. She is also responsible for managing the EM High Conviction strategy. Prior to joining HSBC in 2006, Stephanie was a portfolio manager at Invesco Asset Management and F&C Asset Management where she was responsible for Asian Equities. Stephanie holds a BSc and MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics (UK).
